John Caputo Audio Links
As we lead up to our first Theology Book Club meeting on Caputo’s On Religion we’ll be featuring some videos, reviews, and audio regarding Caputo and his ideas to help facilitate discussion. If you have any you’d like to recommend, please email or leave a comment!
Caputo, along with Richard Kearney, was a participant in Emergent Village’s 2007 Theological Philosophical Conversation moderated by Tony Jones. The event was recorded and broadcast on the Emergent Village Podcast in five different parts (1, 2, 3, 4, 5). I believe (don’t hold me to it!) that On Religion is mentioned specifically in the last session. But of course, they are all worth listening to!
Caputo was also interviewed on the Homebrewed Christianity podcast. The interview is a little longer than usual, but it provides a lot of helpful information about his life, background, and approach to philosophy and theology.
In 2002 Caputo sat on an panel at the annual meeting of the Society of Biblical Literature and interviewed Jacques Derrida — his main influence and conversation partner throughout most of his works — on the subject of religion. The audio is in three parts (1, 2, 3).
Here is another audio link of Caputo from Febuary 2001 titled “For the Love of Things Themselves: Derrida’s Hyper-Realism.”
There is a fair amount of blog chatter — both past and present — out there about Caputo if you’d like to get a head start looking over some reviews. We’ll post some of those in the days and weeks to come.

Caputo is also one of the contemporary writers interested in the field of theopoetics and how our articulation of the Divine alters our experience and understanding of it. An interesting and short article from he and Catherine Keller can be found here:
