Upcoming for Emergent Outliers

It’s been a busy time for your editor here at Emergent Outliers, I just started a new job and it’s a bit intense – but in the best possible way.  But now that things are settling down, I think we’ll see things return to normalcy here plus quite a new things!

So, what do we have in store for the next few weeks?  Quite a bit!

  • This week we have our first Emerging Bible Study group on the Epistle of James!  This meeting will be starting at 8:30 on Thursday, Oct 8th (try to get there around 8pm!)  Aside from reading the text, nothing else is needed but showing up – we’ll surely have an interesting, fun discussion!  It’ll be a little different for a Bible Study, befitting both our curious situation (video chat) as well as our ‘Emerging’ sensibilities.  Why don’t you take a look at our conversation on this thus far, and make some recommendations yourself!
  • Two weeks after that we’ll be having our next meeting of the Theology Book Club.  We’re moving these meetings to once a month to give us all more time to read the text and make room for the Bible Study.  Our selection will be Terry Eagleton’s Reason, Faith and Revolution.  You can find a video of Mr. Eagleton on the front page, and more content will be upcoming.  This meeting will be Thursday, Oct 22nd at 8:30 as well (try to get there around 8pm!)
  • This week we’ll be introducing at least one new writer, and maybe more.  If you’re interested in being a regular contributor to Emergent Outliers, or even just contributing the occasional piece – be sure to contact us!
  • I’ve got a surprise I’ll be announcing this week most likely as well.  Been tossing an idea around and I think it’s time to kick it out of its nest and see if it flies.

We hope you’ll join us in the upcoming weeks.  You don’t need to be Emergent (or Emerging, or whatever :) ) just have  a desire for sincere interaction and communion.  It helps if you read the books or Bible passage but don’t let that stop you!
