About

“…a wave of light breaks into our darkness, and it is as though a voice were saying: “You are accepted. You are accepted, accepted by that which is greater than you, and the name of which you do not know. Do not ask for the name now; perhaps you will find it later. Do not try to do anything now; perhaps later you will do much. Do not seek for anything; do not perform anything; do not intend anything. Simply accept the fact that you are accepted!” If that happens to us, we experience grace.” – Paul Tillich

The Emerging Church resembles the theologian Paul Tillich’s famous words – “do not ask for the name now; perhaps you will find it later.” We do not know exactly what it is that we are doing, we Emergents. We do not know exactly what we’re talking about. We do not know quite what to name these changes that we sense around us in God’s Church. But we can discern that it exists, that something is happening, that we want to be part of it, and find each other in communion and community.

So for those of us Emergents, cast to the wind, placed along the outlying edges of the movement, of theology, of what has came before… this place might be our home for a while. A place to talk, a place to listen, and a place to simply be God’s Church.
